Life Groups: Where Real Life Happens

Perceptions of Christianity

Kent Shaffer (ChurchRelevance) recently reported some statistics from Gabe Lyons, author of unChristian. Non-Christians aged 16-29 years old were asked, “What is your current perception of Christianity?”

91% said antihomosexual
87% said judgmental
85% said hypocritical
78% said old-fashioned
75% said too involved in politics
72% said out of touch with reality
70% said insensitive to others
68% said boring
64% said not accepting of other faiths
61% said confusing

As a member of Shoreline Church and a Life Group Leader, would the way you speak and act be perceived this way by non-Christians? Or are we acting in love? Both the Transparent Church and the Here Comes the Judge series go along perfectly with this particular survey. If you missed them or want to hear them again, you can download the messages off our web site.

Everyone is talking about the economy these days.

Everyone is talking about the economy these days. Want to know what God says about money? Check out this group. They’ve met once, but there are still six more meetings.

Mad Scientists

At the next meeting of the Mad Scientists, they will be studying gravity, conservation of energy, and building potato cannons. They will use the cannons to experiment with the energy equations they learned and using this data, try to hit targets. If that sounds like fun to you, call Josh at (352) 262-5304.

Fall Semester

Thursday night we had a dinner party for the fall semester’s Life Group Leaders and Section Leaders. A big THANK YOU for all the awesome food that was brought! And thanks to Jason and Heather for reserving the clubhouse for us! Click here to view the photo album.

I’m looking forward to Get Life Day tomorrow and this entire semester. Hope you are, too!

Got Water? No?

Pastor Eric wrote a funny article about his trip to Bali in the August 29th Destin Log. If you missed it, click here to read it. Also, have you checked out Michaela’s blog with details of how she and Lindsay spent their summer abroad? If you, too, want to live the dream, Shoreline Church will be taking a group on a mission trip to Bali in 2009. If you’re interested in being part of the team, call the church office at (850) 650-8658.
