Huge Event on February 28th at Gulf Place
As mentioned previously, February 28th is Shoreline’s Serve Day. One way you can get involved is by donating items for the new homeless shelter in Fort Walton. An event will take place at the Artists at Gulf Place (located at the corner of 393 and 30A in Santa Rosa Beach). In addition to a huge art sale, please bring gently used or new:
- Linens, blankets, towels, washcloths
- Small pillows, pillowcases
- Bunk beds and mattresses
- Decorations for wall to make it look warm and inviting
- Window treatments, curtains, and hardware to hang them
- Clothing, all sizes (particularly underwear and socks)
- Shoes of all sizes, particularly work boots
- Personal hygiene items (shampoo, soap, wash clothes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, razors)
- Back packs
- Bicycles
- First aid supplies
- Sunscreen
- Gift certificates to fast food restaurants (a dollar certificate can give someone a coffee and a respite from the heat or rain) (Fort Walton locations only, please)
- Laundry soap
- Large containers of liquid soap
- Cleaning supplies
- Groceries
- Latex gloves for washing dishes, working with persons with skin infections
- Flashlights and batteries
- Can openers
- Paper goods for serving meals and real silverware
- Filing cabinets
- Diapers
- Old cell phones
- Books and games
Items will be collected on Saturday, February 28th, from 12:45-3:00 pm. Then the items will be transported to the shelter in a U-Haul.
Also from 1:00-3:00 pm… Free wine, nonalcoholic drinks, and snacks. Live music by Zack Rosicka. Artists demonstrations and hands on recycled art for the young and the young at heart.
