Project #1: home in Niceville
Leader: Jay Wachsmuth (847) 609-2588
Description: This is a very sweet lady with health problems that don’t allow her to do some of the things she needs around the house. And her husband, who was very handy, died last year.
Manpower: 3 to 4 handy people
Needs: Caulking around tub in 2nd bathroom, hang vertical blinds in sun-porch, install handrail outside back door, change out toilet kit in bathroom, clean spider webs between storm window and window, remove 2 limbs from maple tree in back yard, very light yard work
Materials: provided, team will need to bring tools for inside and outside and a chain saw for the tree

Project #2: home in Valparaiso
Leader: Terri Walden (407) 590-7246
Description:Very sad story. Mother has Alzheimer’s and her daughter (who is also her caregiver) works full time. Daughter’s husband has cancer and must stay in Tallahassee for treatments – no time for cleaning!
Manpower: 8 to 12 people (the more the merrier and the faster it gets done)
Needs: Deep cleaning here – everything is neat just very dusty, furniture needs to be moved from walls and vacuumed behind and furniture dusted. The house is 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, LR, DR, Kitchen.
Materials: everything will be provided but if people have an extra vacuum and lots of dust rags that might help

Project #3: home in Fort Walton Beach
Leader: Pastor Sam Blowes 699-9352
Description: This is the same house that Sam’s group did last time. This would be a good one to bring some kids. The lady still talks about the two little girls that sat with her and held her hand to this day. She has pictures of them right next to her chair that she sits in daily. And the little girls still visit her now and then. The lady eats it up!! When you have someone who is shut in their home, they treasure the little things like just spending time with other people. Shoreline certainly made an impact in this women’s life.
Manpower: 5 to 7 people
Needs: Clean siding on outside of house, awnings and soffits (they will supply cleaner, and spray pump to apply, then use garden hose to rinse). Clean windows outside using same cleaner and spray pump. If someone has a power-washer that might be helpful.
Materials: will be provided

Project #4: home in Fort Walton Beach
Leader: Tim Egstad 596-7475
Description: This couple has had a very hard life. Tons of physical ailments. The wife is covered in welts all over her body and has a prosthetic leg. Her husband has heart problems that limit him from doing some of the things needed around the house.
Manpower: 12 to 14 people
Need: They currently have a tarp over their trailer and it has holes in it. They are asking for another tarp over the first one to keep the water out. The side of the trailer has a hole in it and they would like to have it covered to discourage the visiting squirrel! They are also asking for a tree to be removed that fell in the front yard and some very basic yard cleanup. We would love to be able to give them a new roof and remove the tarps all together. We’re working on that!! Shoreline could make a huge impact on these people’s life.
Materials: will be provided, bring tools for repair to the trailer and yard tools. Also, a chain saw for the tree

Project # 5: Princess Beach Clean-up
Leader: Lisa Buchman 259-8419
Manpower: 8 to 12 people
Materials: Bring trash bags, and gloves (optional)

Project #6: Road clean-up between Valparaiso and airport
Leader: Dan Austin 543-6282
Materials: Bring trash bags, and gloves (optional)

Project #7: Chainsaw Gang
Leader: Andy Saczynski 502-0072
Description: This is a special team made up of professionals – people who know how to use a chainsaw correctly!!! They will need additional manpower to move the limbs once cut!!!
Manpower: 4 to 6 people

Project #8: Charity Event at Gulf Place to benefit Homeless Shelter
Leaders: Chuck & Misti Schneidewind 865-0406
Description: click here

Project #9: Lunch team
Leader: Darlene Partin 502-1099
Description: Team to deliver lunch to each family we are helping – 7 people total. Food could be delivered the day before to the church office for the team leaders to pick up and deliver or this team could be in charge of delivery.
Manpower: at least 4 people
Need: Soup, bread, drinks, and dessert

Last summer, we had our Life Groups take lead on our “Serve Day” projects during our “Road Trip” series (example: Beach Clean-Up). We are doing a Part 2 of that series and calling it “On The Road Again.” The series runs February 8th-22nd and we’ll be talking about the same 3 areas (global, national, and local missions). It will culminate with a church-wide local serve day on February 28th. We are asking each of our Life Group Leaders to lead one of about fifteen projects (obviously, some groups will double up). Since some of our Life Groups won’t officially start until Get Life Day on March 1st, all the spring leaders will be our point of contacts and, hopefully, this “Serve Day” can be a way to recruit people into those new and returning Life Groups. More information to come, but I wanted to get the word out early so you can reserve the date… February 28th!!!
